Smarties & Cedar House Day Nurseries

Category : Events

We are delighted that we have been chosen to be the charity of the year for the Smarties and Cedar House Day Nurseries in Mansfield for 2018.  We have worked with them in the past and are so pleased to be continuing our relationship with them and with their wonderful owners, Steve & Christine Doubtfire.

As part of their fundraising, they have already hosted a Curry Night, have a Walk planned for June and some of the staff will be undertaking the Nottingham Half Marathon in September!

The following information has been sent to us by Steve to share a little more about the Peak Pilgrimage in June.

“To coincide with the 10 year anniversary of this important charity, who support the work of King’s Mill Hospital Neonatal Unit Mansfield, a group of  about 10 seasoned ramblers have selected to undertake the Derbyshire Peak Pilgrimage. This is going to be a 40 mile 2 day event to be held on the 23rd and 24th June. As usual the walk is self funded so any donations made to support our fund raising will be given to the Emily Harris Foundation and in part our aim is to give their family room a makeover and make it more attractive for children 5 – 15 years to stay and play while their parents are busy. The project will require some furniture to sit on and for storage, TV/DVD/games consoles and a range of suitable toys, books, games to suit the children who might be spending some considerable periods of time on site without much to do. If we exceed our target and resource the room with funds remaining, all the remaining fund will be handed over to the Foundation to continue its important work.

To sponsor us please use the link below and thank you in anticipation.

London Marathon 2018

Category : Events

As you may be aware, we have two runners who will be completing the London Marathon to raise money for us in April, one of them being Emily’s Daddy.  They will both be training hard by now and we are sure they will be motivated further if people continue to support them and sponsor them to enable them to reach their targets!

Please click on the link to visit our Virgin Money Giving London Marathon page and choose who you wish to support (or both!) to make a donation.  If you are also running in the Marathon and would like to raise money for us, then you can also set up a page and link it to our event.

Thank you!

Can You Help?

Category : Events

We are in the early stages of planning our Family Fun Day to celebrate our 10th Anniversary on Saturday 8th September 2018.  There are a number of ways you may be able to help!  Do you have any involvement in a business that may be able to provide us with activities on the day – for example, bouncy castle, children’s entertainment, disco, bar, etc?  Alternatively, would you or your business like to sponsor an activity which will enable us to pay for the service from someone else without using our existing resources or depleting the profit we hope to make?

If you have any ideas or would like to help in any way, please do get in touch by e-mailing Clare, our Foundation Manager at
